Message from the Grandmothers

After I returned from Lithuania and the Netherlands I found several internet newsletters and emails waiting for me that focused in some way on the Divine Feminine or God the Mother. Before I left home I had rarely seen information like this, but now there appeared to be a sudden increase in awareness of the goddess in all her forms. I also noticed that many people were offering classes on reawakening the Goddess, guiding tours to goddess sites around the world and writing and lecturing on who She was/is. Why this sudden upsurge, I wondered, and what part was the Grandmothers’ work to play in it? Since I couldn’t answer my questions, I journeyed to the Grandmothers.

“Grandmothers,” I said as I came before them, “teach me the role your work is to play at this time. People are offering lots of different workshops and lectures on the Divine Feminine now and few people even know about you.” The Grandmothers regarded me patiently as I blundered on. “You on the other hand know everything,” I said, “and after all, you are the ones who called this work into being. So now, as people become more aware of the Mother, what would you like me to do? Should I be doing something to get your message out into the world?”

Instantly the Grandmothers circled round, and enfolded me in a tight embrace. “Turn to us,” they said, and as I felt their arms around me, I focused on them. “It’s very confusing out there in the world,” they said and patted my back. “It really is, Grandmothers,” I whispered. “Turn to us,” they said. “We told you long ago that the greatest use you can make of our message is to live it. What we said then is also true now.

“Open to us,” they said, “and do not reach for the fruits of your actions. Do not worry about advertising and promoting our message. Much of what you see in the so-called New Age community,” they said, “is the same salesmanship, the same yang-driven commerce, although with a spiritual title, that you see anywhere. We have not come for this,” they said. “Your world has had more than enough of buying, selling, advertising and promotion.

“We work through the hearts of those we call to us and through them we strengthen the Net of Light. There are some people who come to us only fleetingly. These come seeking excitement and sensation and flit from teacher to teacher, from message to message. These we cannot work with,” they said. This work is only for certain ones,” they smiled.

“Go slow, go deep,” they said. “You will find us there in the depths of your being. We have come to awaken you to the presence of the Great Mother. She lies within you,” they said. “Her nature is your nature. And as you awaken to this greatness, to the presence of the Great Feminine within yourself, your presence will bless, hold and comfort everything that lives. Your vibration will change—it has changed. Your very being is deepening and awakening.

“We have also told you that our work is not for everyone,” they said again. “Numbers are not important to us. What is important is your intention; intention underlies everything. It is the purity of your intention that calls us to you in the first place and it is the purity of your intention that then holds us captive. We cannot resist the purity of your intention,” they said, shaking their heads and smiling. “We are then yours and you become ours. The Grandmothers now stood tall and with great dignity spoke as one. “Our mission is a selfless one,” they said, “so only those who have this quality within themselves and wish to serve others will come to our call.

“We say again,” the Grandmothers said, fastening their eyes on mine, “it is not about numbers. Those who have come to our call are already doing more good than they know. They are working on multidimensional levels to anchor the Net of Light. And they are anchoring the Mother’s presence for many, many beings.”

After a few moments of silence, with great power the Grandmothers intoned, “Invite us in.” Their words and voices were so powerful that I responded instantly and I began to plunge downward. I dove or moved slowly, and my descent was so gradual and steady that I said with surprise, “What a serious movement. Thorough.” Down, down, down I plunged until at last I reached the Grandmothers who stood waiting for me. Reaching out my arms, I flowed into their embrace and then right into them. We merged.

What a feeling! I was like a great jellyfish, pulsating, and moving with the flow. Full and complete, I felt so happy that I could barely contain it. I looked at the Grandmothers with a question in my eyes and they said, “This we will do for anyone who asks for it. We will give this experience of depth, unshakablity and Presence to she or he who desires it. We wait for them.”

Then the Grandmothers explained, “We cannot hold you in the way we are holding you now, while you are living on the surface of life. We may call you to us while you are living on the surface of life. We have called to many while they went about their ‘normal’ lives. But now,” they said, “we are calling you to dive into the depths of your being. When you do this, we will hold you in these deep places until you learn that the one who dwells in the deepest places is who you are. You are wise, you are great and deep,” they said, fixing me with a look. “You are Not this body,” they said, fierceness in their tone, “You are Not this personality, living at a particular time and place. What you are is eternal and unshakable. You are a wellspring of understanding and compassion.

“If this depth is what you want,” they said, giving me an appraising look, “We will give it to you.” “Yes, Grandmothers,” I said, “This is what I want. “Go slow then,” they said again, “go deep, and we will lead you. This is your part to play,” they said, nodding to me. “Not running here or there and seeking to promote us, but anchoring the presence of the Mother. Living our message. This is, who you are. After all,” they said as they broke into laughter, “Aren’t you tired of pretending you are less than this?

“When you are ready to own who you really are, call us,” they said. “You will then hold the vibration of the Great Mother. And because you hold this, thousands upon thousands will benefit. You will become a blessing upon the earth. As we say,” they smiled, “a walking prayer.

“You are not here simply to talk about the Great Mother, to share ideas about the Great Mother and the return of the Feminine, but to live this. To live as you were born to live. You ARE the great yin,” they said. And drawing themselves to their full height, twelve queenly Grandmothers said, “Own this. Live it. Call on us. We will hold you, teach you and make your lives joyful.”
