Message from the Grandmothers
April 2007
I journeyed to the Grandmothers to ask them to clarify our purpose at
this point in history, when so much upheaval is taking place. "There
are many difficulties now, Grandmothers," I said. "Please
address these so we can take heart." "Yes," the
Grandmothers said. They liked this question, especially the part about
taking heart.
Immediately they showed me what looked like boxes or building
blocks. Some of them were rubbing up against each other and others were
falling down. They said, "You think that because something exists,
it is permanent. A business, a bank, a country, or a home-because it
is there, you think it will last. They are no more permanent than these
boxes you see falling down. What is permanent is what lies beneath all
these things, what lies beneath the buildings, institutions, political
parties, financial and religious establishments. What is permanent is
what lies beneath. These things are ephemeral and will come and go. They
have always come and gone.
"We know that this period of change frightens you. You don't know
what to hold onto or believe in now when there is so much upheaval in the
world, but your connection with us (the Divine) and with one another is
permanent. The loving connections you have-the caring, understanding,
and holding of one another and your love for us-these are forever and
these are real.
"These times of change have been foretold. You know this, but
you forget. The distractions of the world lull you into forgetting that
everything in life is change. You are not the same as you were when you
were a baby or the same as you will be twenty years from now. Always
you are borne along on the river of life. The river flows; it is not a
stagnant pond. In order for something new to arise, the old must give
way. At this time old institutions and ways of thinking are falling so
that what is real and unchanging can take center stage.
"Grandmothers," I asked, "given what you've said, how
can we weather the storms of these times?" "Although these are
difficult times," they replied, "you will be carried along by
the river of life, nudged and moved to where it is you need to be.
"Something far greater is coming soon," they said,
"greater and better by far than anything you have known. A new way
of being is coming. The old way-that of clinging, greediness, fearfulness,
rushing from sensation to sensation and from place to place--is going. It
was too brittle to withstand the flow of the river of life. Anything
that cannot bend and accommodate the flow of life has to go.
"Turn to the love within your heart now," the Grandmothers
said, "and when things get difficult, we will be there, holding
you. Whenever fear shows its face, call on us. What is fear anyway except
a clinging to artifacts that have to go?" they asked. "So call
on us, let us hold you, and give your love to one another every chance
you get.
"Something good is coming," the Grandmothers
repeated. "The change and upheaval that you see around you is not
for nothing. Change is making way for the new. You may not remember this,
but you chose to be born during these times so that you could be part
of this work. No matter how wild the weather, you will find that you
will be able to ride the waves of change; you will actually ride them
with ease. And we will hold and support you.
"Those of you who read our messages and gather to do our work
were born for this time. We ask you to remember this now, to let go of
fear and instead own your own greatness. Own your expanded heart, your
heart that is growing larger every day, loving more and more. This is
how we love you.
