Last week I realized I was becoming disturbed by the news of the world, haunted especially by an article I had seen about the suffering of children in Chechnya. The horrors I had read about overwhelmed me and I couldn't get the images out of my mind. Because I knew that there are others like me, deeply affected by the shocking and cruel events that are becoming common in our world, I decided to journey to the Grandmothers. I would lay this all before them.
As soon as I saw them I said, "Dear Grandmothers, the tragedies taking place on earth now are almost too much to bear. I long for peace, most people long for peace" I said and to my surprise I began to sob. "We long for love," I said, "and it's so hard, Grandmothers, because there are such awful things happening now. You know all this," I added, "so I won't explain it, but please, Grandmothers, do you have a message for us that will help us hold on to the Divine at this difficult time? It feels like our world is being assailed by horror."
They smoothed my hair back from my forehead and said, "We know. We know." As they gathered around and held me, I felt so good. They were reminding me of who I am, that I am one with them. Encircled by the Grandmothers, I looked out at the world and saw that the world itself was shaking. As in a cycle in a washing machine that agitates in order to loosen dirt, the earth was literally being shaken. "This shaking is loosening old, reified constructs, cracking them open," the Grandmothers said. As they spoke I recalled a picture that someone had sent me. A woman who had received the Grandmothers' Empowerment had drawn a tree with a heart at its center; the heart so huge, it was opening up the tree, cracking dead wood off. It illustrated the woman's heart being cracked open by the Grandmothers' Empowerment.
"Breathe," the Grandmothers said as they brought me back to the present moment. As I took a deep breath they said, "When you are assailed by the traumas of the world and become frightened, know that it is not you, yourself, who is upset. Your Self cannot be upset," they said. "Your self is steady and eternal. You have simply," they paused, shrugged and then smiled, "picked up the shaking of the world you are living in. It is not your shaking. It is the world's shaking. Come to us at such times," they said. "We will surround you and enclose you in love.
"We are not encouraging you to avoid or close yourself off from the world," they said. "You can 'be in the world and not of it' as Jesus said, by making it a habit to call on us, or on any form of the Divine that you love. Your consciousness will then begin to live with the Divine. When you live in a place of high frequency energy, although the world will beat on your door, threaten you and even shock your personality, it will have less and less effect on you. Finally it will have no effect at all. As we told you earlier, it's a question of paving the road to God; it is a question of keeping your focus on what is real. And when we say, 'real," they explained, "we mean that which is eternal and unchanging. Your connection to us never changes. There may be war in Iraq, there may be a war in Afghanistan and famine in Africa. Such things will happen at this time of shifting energy, but no matter what happens in the world, you can be always with us.
"Living in touch with the Divine does not mean retreating from the world. You can go about your life in the world. You can work, live with your family and contribute to the human community. You can do all the things you have always done, but in addition to these, you will automatically bring our presence to every place you occupy, to every person you encounter. This that we speak of is not a small thing," they said as they searched my eyes to be sure I understood their meaning. Then they nodded and said, "Again feel our embrace, as again we surround you. We are always surrounding you but we say 'again' to you to remind you to think of this again.
"Yes," the Grandmothers said, "this is a time of destruction for the world--destruction of evil, destruction of the old, cruel and limiting ways of living. These old patterns are now being destroyed and will be destroyed. This is the Kali Yuga, the age of destruction. You are living in this age. It is happening now." They gazed at me, waiting for my mind to catch up to them and then, cocking their heads, said, "Isn't this destruction a good thing?"
"If the old ways were to continue," they said, "if the old, limiting, cruel and destructive ways of life were to continue they would kill everything on earth. Bit by bit these destructive patterns of living would snuff the very life out of your planet. The trees, the animals, and the waters would die and the very air would thicken. This has already begun to happen. Eventually you would all die.
"These old ways must crack off now," they said, "and yes, you will feel it. Life on earth will move through these changes in a physical way-there will be earthquakes, floods, fires, tornadoes, storms and other manifestations of earth's energy shift. You will also feel these changes emotionally and you will be aware of them mentally. The foundational concepts upon which many of your cultures have been built are now crumbling and cracking off. Many 'sacred cows' that you have long held close to your hearts and believed real are now dying. They never were real; the false is now being destroyed. It is time. If these changes do not take place, all life will eventually die out and this cannot be allowed to happen. The destruction of the limitations you've lived under, the destruction of the old, stuck, dead-end ideas that you have believed in-all of this must take place. It can be no other way. But you have a choice," they said. "You can fear this process and contract into that fear or you can rejoice that the old is finally going." As they said these words, a song from the Wizard of Oz began to play in my mind. "Ding dong the witch is dead. The wicked witch is dead." I giggled when I recognized the tune and when I looked up at the Grandmothers, they were laughing too.
"We are not asking you to do this work all by yourself," they said to me. "That is why we have come. That is why so many forms of the Divine have come to earth at this time. None of you need to go through this experience by yourself and it is not necessary for you to be inordinately brave. You simply need to be mindful of your connection with us and call on that connection. Your connection with the Divine will make you brave, in a effortless way," they added with broad smiles. "You won't have to screw up your courage; we will do it for you. Just call us. We will carry you, hold and enfold you throughout this entire time of change.
The Grandmothers then said, "Think now of what we gave to you a long time ago," and instantly a meditation that they gave me soon after I began to journey to them came to mind. "Before you is a scene of plenty and great beauty," they said. They showed me a sunny room where a table sat before a window. They began to describe what I was seeing. "The room is so flooded with light that it seems to glow," they said. "Sunlight pours over the table and floods the room while in the middle of the table sits a large pitcher with curved sides. It is a beautiful, over-sized pitcher, the color of cream. When you look inside it, you can see that it is not only the color of cream, but is filled to the very top with cream. Next to the pitcher sits a cup.
"We will now pour from the pitcher into the cup until the cup too is full to the very rim. Now we set the pitcher down. Look into the pitcher," they said. "Yes," they laughed, "it is still filled to the top. This pitcher cannot be emptied. No matter how many times we pour from it, it will remain ever full. You ARE this pitcher," they announced. "We will not let you empty. We will keep you ever full. And from this place of fullness you can give to others. You will fill them....effortlessly, and you will never suffer depletion. You will be ever full.
"The world must go through these changes now," they said. "These changes are mandated. This is divine will and must happen. We ask you to stay connected to us while all this takes place," they said and quickly added, "Why not? You needn't suffer during this time of earth change. You can actually enjoy yourself. You are a vessel of light and love after all," they laughed, "that is who you are. Be that!" they said with feeling. "We will fill you full....always.
